Steve Allen testando a Vapor (dia 2)

Problemão dos caras, arrumar vento fraco pra treinar!!!! Quer trocar?????????? Vem pra cá pra BSB!

Steve

Steve Allen e Ross Wilhans testando a Vapor (dia 1)

We tested the 11m Vapor against the 10.7m RS6 in Medium to strong wind. Apart from the Vapor being so much nicer to rig with also being much easier to down haul, it had better acceleration speed up wind and down wind with better control. I was much more comfortable sailing the 11m Vapor in the overpowering gusts than the RS6 10.7m.

I am so stoked I can’t wait to get out there and fine tune all the other sizes also, I will keep you updated. We go early tomorrow to try and test in the lighter wind on the larger sizes as well as the 11m again. Then in the afternoon hopefully the 10m and 10.5 and will compare against 9.8m RS6 also.

To amarradão.

We haven't yet had light enough wind to test sizes larger than 11m so today we got out there on the 10mVapor and tested it against the 9.8m RS6 in very strong wind with some lighter moments also.

When sialing in the strongest wind, the down wind performance was very similar and the upwind sailing into the chop and swell was also quite similar. But as soon as there was a flat spot or sailing on the other tack going more with the chop the 10m Vapor was pulling away with speed. The 10m Vapor was also breathing much nicer absorbing the gusts and chop better making for an easier more comfortable ride. Then the biggest difference was when we would have a close reach run back to the beach, which is the most difficult having to pull a little more outhaul on both sails and the 10m Vapor left the 9.8m RS6 for dead with speed and almost effortless control just like locking the board to the water it was amazing, while on the 9.8 RS6 you would have to fight very hard just to keep it together let alone even try to go for speed.

Then when the wind dropped for a short time we also tested, and the 10m Vapor was much better on the down wind and also better upwind. With the Vapor when you get the gust the sail twists off really well giving you these bursts of speed where the RS6 sails feel more stiff and locked up with a more constant speed.

So I can now say if you are after 2 sails that compare to the NP sizes of 9.8m and 10.7m you can't go wrong with the 10m and 11m Vapor that for me have more speed potential and easier to use.

Also for you to know our size, I am at the moment 82kg 185 tall and Ross I think about 85kg and a little shorter than myself.

Tomorrow we will drive to the other side of the Island to try find lighter wind for the larger sizes.
